THE COURAGE TO BE - Clown level 1
A series of 3 weekends in Oxford
18/19 Feb 2012, 10/11 March 2012, 14/15 April 2012
The word ‘courage’ comes from a root that means ‘heart’.
Through clowning and connecting to our playful spirit we can develop
and sustain, in ourselves and each other, the heart to be who we
truly are, to trust life and ourselves. ‘Taking heart’
is a profoundly inward process, and an invitation to overcome the
fears that block us from being fully present in the here and now.
This course establishes the ground for all our work and is an
essential first step before going on to more advanced courses.
The work, and the group, will build over the three weekends, ending
with an opportunity to participate in a local and ongoing practice
and research group.
The first weekend can stand alone as an introduction to clowning,
however priority booking will be given to those wishing to take
the whole course of three weekends.
The group size is limited to 12.
Facilitator: Sharon Usher.
Sharon has been teaching with Nose to Nose for 11 years and is
keen to establish an Oxford based ‘clowning community of practice’
to support peer development in the clowning work and to create opportunities
for performance and social clowning in the area.
